BARE BONES AND LOOSE ENDS
PHIL HUNGERFORD
Independent
Eclectic is the best way to describe PHIL HUNGERFORD’s musical style, which ranges widely from rock to pure, traditional folk. This album covers the spectrum, in a way that melds it all seamlessly into a warm, cohesive and very appealing sound. Tamworth-based Phil writes great songs that are both personal and universal. And this album contains a swag of the best. Highlights include the delightfully titled Crappin’ On, Middle Age Blues and If I Had A Dollar. There are a couple of songs inspired by our changing worlds the funky Digitalia and Technology like all the songs on the album, they come very much from Phil’s perspective. My favourite track is Superwoman, a tender, perceptive song that will strike a chord with many women. But the quality of the tracks on this album is consistently high. Phil is a consummate observer of the human condition and he has the talent to convey his understandings in a way that’s both entertaining and illuminating. This album is an absolute delight.
